Lake Edersee experience region

Right on our doorstep is the Edersee, exactly 24 meters from our lake terrace. So what else could we recommend than to discover and experience this beautiful lake of ours and its surroundings? The possibilities are endless. But let's start at the beginning and first familiarize you with the most important key data:

Water surface: 11.8 km². Water capacity at full dam: 199.3 million m³. Height of the dam wall: 48 m. This makes the Edersee the second largest reservoir in Germany in terms of surface area and the third largest in terms of volume. The purpose of the Eder Dam is primarily to provide water for the Weser River and the Mittelland Canal. At the same time, it serves as protection against floods and for the generation of electrical energy. Located in the Kellerwald-Edersee Nature Park and the Kellerwald-Edersee National Park, overlooked by Waldeck Castle, Lake Eder and the region around it form a large-scale recreational area.
